From Supreme Court justices to Super Bowl champion coaches to Nobel Prize recipients, the 2009-10 school year brought renowned figures to the IUPUI campus.

Supreme Views

Chief Justice John G. Roberts

Chief Justice John G. Roberts delivered the ninth annual James P. White Lecture on Legal Education in April at the IU School of Law- Indianapolis, the third justice to take part in the series. Roberts follows in the footsteps of former Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, who gave the inaugural White address in 2002, and current Supreme Court member Ruth Bader Ginsburg was the featured speaker in 2007.

Roberts spent a portion of his time on a history of the Supreme Court and the context of the times in which previous courts served, including the presidents in office during the court members' tenures. He also answered questions from law students, faculty and dignitaries who attended the lecture that bears the name of a former School of Law faculty member.

The chief justice, a New York native, attended grade school and high school in Indiana before heading to Harvard for his bachelor's degree and law school.

State of Science
